On-chip water cooling
Maximum efficiency through direct cooling at the source – minimal energy consumption.
In the future, we will be operating one of the most powerful AI data centers in Switzerland - and we know what that means: enormous energy consumption and a great deal of responsibility. That is precisely why we’ve taken a different approach from the very beginning. At FlexBase, sustainability isn’t an afterthought, but the starting point for every business decision.
A Sovereign AI Factory with up to 500 MW of computing power at full capacity, directly coupled with a Redox Flow Battery Storage System with a capacity of 2.1+ GWh and a maximum power output of 1.2 GW - comparable to the output of the Leibstadt nuclear power plant.
This storage system is not merely an afterthought. It is the answer to one of the most pressing questions of our time: How can digital infrastructure, which is absolutely essential, simultaneously contribute actively to the energy transition? Our answer is measurable, scalable, and already a reality today.
We have decided not to leave this infrastructure in the hands of others. We are actively shaping it: with the goal that an AI data center not only consumes energy but also stabilizes the power grid, integrates renewable energy, and thus becomes part of the solution - not the problem.
Our battery storage system captures excess electricity from renewable sources when the grid is producing too much and feeds it back when demand arises. Once fully operational, the AI Factory itself will be able to draw up to 500 MW without drawing on the battery storage system.
Maximum efficiency through direct cooling at the source – minimal energy consumption.
Process heat is recovered and put to good use - nothing goes to waste.
The shaded north facade is also equipped with solar panels. We promote sustainability even in areas where it isn’t immediately economically viable.
FlexBase stands for proof that AI and climate action are not at odds - if you are willing to think differently from the start.
What is being built in Laufenburg is more than a project. It is a model: for Switzerland, for Europe, and for everyone who no longer sees digital infrastructure as a burden on the climate, but as an active contributor to the energy transition.

Connected to the European power grid: The Technology Center Laufenburg is being built at one of the region’s most strategically important energy hubs.
