380kV connection
The direct connection to the 380 kV extra-high voltage grid in Laufenburg provides a stable, powerful energy supply - ideal for GPU-intensive AI workloads.
The world's first sovereign AI factory built to Swiss standards is being created as part of the Technology Center Laufenburg project. The FlexBase AI data center differs fundamentally from conventional data centers.
An artificial intelligence data center (AI data center) is a specialized IT infrastructure designed to handle enormous amounts of data and computing power. Unlike conventional data centers, AI data centers are optimized for high-performance computing (HPC), data analysis and machine learning.
Investing in AI infrastructure in Switzerland lays the foundation for innovation, competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
Through the use of sustainable energy sources, direct connection to Europe's electricity hub, efficient water cooling, intelligent waste heat utilization and support from redox flow battery storage, we offer a sustainable infrastructure.
The FlexBase Sovereign AI Factory will be unique. The data center, which no longer has much in common with conventional data centers, will be sustainably designed, future-proof, scalable and will underscore Switzerland's attractiveness as an independent country in the heart of Europe.
The steady rise of artificial intelligence is presenting companies and existing IT infrastructures with completely new requirements in terms of computing power, scalability and data sovereignty - requirements that are increasingly overwhelming conventional data centers.
With the expected massive increase in energy demand for AI data center infrastructure in the coming years, FlexBase is positioning itself in a unique role: As the only provider in Switzerland, FlexBase is implementing the “Technology Center Laufenburg (TCL)” project, Switzerland's first sovereign AI factory in accordance with European and Swiss standards - powerful, future-proof, sustainably designed and completely under local control. What makes the FlexBase Sovereign AI Factory absolutely unique from a technical perspective is its combination with a huge redox flow battery storage system.
Our data center is being built using state-of-the-art technology. A dedicated substation designed to operate the combination of battery storage and AI data center ensures efficient interaction between the two technologies and enables the reservation of fossil fuel UPS systems.
The direct connection to the 380 kV extra-high voltage grid in Laufenburg provides a stable, powerful energy supply - ideal for GPU-intensive AI workloads.
The water-cooled server racks enable new performance dimensions of up to 1.2 MW per rack. The waste heat flows into the heating network.
We guarantee maximum data sovereignty and political neutrality - regardless of extraterritorial access such as GDPR or CLOUD Act.
For companies that demand uncompromising data sovereignty, sustainable energy and maximum performance.
Our AI data center is powered exclusively by renewable energy, which would be lost without the combination with the redox flow battery storage system. Waste heat utilization for district heating and the direct proximity to the Star of Laufenburg to eliminate major power losses. The approximately 11,000 m² solar cladding also underscores the concept of sustainability in the building's exterior appearance.
We focus on sustainability, maximum safety, modular design, scalability and efficient energy flow.
Zukunftsweisende Technologien, die einen klaren Wettbewerbsvorteil verschaffen.
Our white space offers high-density individual rooms for AI infrastructures for high token throughputs – ideal for hyperscalers, simulations and renderings.
Colocation in shared or dedicated high-density environments – ideal for GPU farms, big data and HPC applications.
The combination with the redox flow battery storage system and waste heat utilization makes the AI Factory particularly sustainable.
Our data center has a modular design and can be divided into floors, sectors and mini-sectors.

A pioneering redox flow battery storage facility is being built at the Technology Center Laufenburg, offering impressive sustainable, safe and fully recyclable technology. It supports the integration of renewable energies by storing surplus electricity and releasing it again when needed. This stabilizes the grid, reduces the risk of outages and strengthens the security of supply in Switzerland and Europe.

The construction of the new technology center will create a modern campus for energy and innovation in Laufenburg. Covering an area of 40,000 m², the campus will combine battery storage, an AI data center, office space and laboratories. Sustainable construction, the highest safety standards and energy-efficient infrastructure make the site a showcase project for European technology development.
