Laufenburg, 23 January 2026 – Swissgrid has approved the grid connection for the first expansion phase of the grid connection for the Laufenburg Technology Center (TZL) with a capacity of 800 MW. In less than one year, the basic agreement was successfully concluded - another important milestone for the project and the result of efficient collaboration.
Following the granting of construction approval and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Technology Center Laufenburg (TZL) of FlexBase Group, Sergio Baumann—former project manager of the new cantonal hospital building in Aarau (KSA)—has assumed overall project management of the landmark project in the Fricktal region. After the groundbreaking on 5 May 2025, commissioning of the TZL is scheduled for 2028.
FlexBase Group has received construction approval for the Technology Center Laufenburg (TZL), which will house the world’s largest battery storage facility and a high-performance data center for artificial intelligence (AI). The official groundbreaking ceremony will take place in the coming weeks. Full commissioning is planned for summer 2028.
FlexBase Group is sponsoring Olympic champion Chiara Leone from Frick. The company will support the sport shooter at least through the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The elite athlete and FlexBase Group CEO, Chairman of the Board, and Co-Founder Marcel Aumer recently signed the corresponding agreement.
